Day 1 Fukuoka – Beppu

From Fukuoka Airport, there is an express bus taking you to Beppu.

You can enjoy Beppu Hell Tour, Beppu Sand Bath, and local hell stream experience & cuisine.

📍Beppu Hell Tour (Jigoku Meguri)

The “hells” (Jigoku) of Beppu are seven spectacular hot springs for viewing rather than bathing which include;

1 Umi Jigoku: blue sea hell
2 Oniishibozu Jigoku: boiling mud hell
3 Shiraike Jigoku: white pond hell
4 Kamado Jigoku: cooking pot hell
5 Oniyama Jigoku: monster mountain hell
6 Chinoike Jigoku: blood pond hell
7 Tatsumaki Jigoku: boiling hot geyser hell

【Access】Each hell is in different areas.

No.1-5 is in Kannawa area. You can take a bus and get off at Kannawa bus stop.

No.6-7 is in Shibaseki area. From Kannawa, you can take a bus and get off at Chinoike Jigoku Mae bus stop.

📍Beppu Beach Sand Bath

This is a must-do activity in Beppu. As you are settling into steaming hot sands while enjoying views of the waves, it is an uncommon pleasure, and healthy as well. Footbath is also available nearby.

【Access】Get off at Rokushoen ・ Beppukaihin Sunayu Mae bus stop and walk 2 minutes.

Day 2 Beppu – Yufuin – Kurokawa

Take a bus from Beppu to Yufuin, another cute onsen town where can enjoy a stroll and try local food.

📍Yunotsubo Kaido

Yunotsubo Kaido Street runs through the center of the popular hot spring town of Yufuin, leading from Yufuin Station to Lake Kinrinko.

The buildings lining the street are low-rise, and most traditional in appearance. Mt. Yufu rises above the street, adding to the picturesque setting. It is a nice place to wander and sample some local delicacies, coupled with a walk around the lake and a relaxing soak in one of the area’s many hot springs.

On the afternoon of Day 2, take a bus from Yufuin to Kurokawa, enjoy onsen hopping in the middle of nature.

📍Kurokawa Onsen

Japan’s most attractive hot spring towns, Kurokawa Onsen. Kurokawa’s townscape is dominated by natural colors and materials, wooden buildings, earthen walls, stone stairs, and a river flowing through. The town center, located in a forested valley, is compact and most easily explored on foot.

Day 3 Kurokawa – Aso – Fukuoka

From Kurokawa onsen, you can take the Kyushu Odan Bus and get off at Aso station. Go Explore Aso caldera, the active volcano in Kyushu.

📍Kusasenri

It is a large field, one of the main panoramic viewpoints in Aso, that sees both Nakadake Crater from afar and ponds formed by the accumulation of raindrops. You can enjoy the scenery that changes with the seasons such as green in summer or white in winter. If you would like to do some activities, you can experience Horse Riding in the green grassland or Aso Adventure Truck.
