You can pleasantly travel from Kumamoto to Kagoshima by riding on the classic Kyushu train.

Firstly, head to the south from Kumamoto station to Hitoyoshi station by SL Hitoyoshi train.

A nostalgic train ride where you can hear, smell and feel the power of the locomotive. You can see a beautiful landscape of Kuma river.

When you arriving at Hitoyoshi, there are marine activities must do! such as rafting, canyoning click here.
Then ride the Isaburo / Shinpei train.

Isaburo / Shinpei(Isaburo / Shinpei)

Isaburo (apart from Hitoyoshi station)・Shinpei (apart from Yoshimatsu station) will operate between Hitoyoshi station in Kumamoto and Yoshimatsu station in Kagoshima.

The reasons you must ride this train;

1. Enjoy breathtaking scenery through the wide panoramic windows.
2. This is the only switchback within a loop line in Japan. You can witness the train making a loop and switchback in order to climb a steep slope.

How excited!

After arriving Yoshimatsu station, ride a Limited Express Hayato no Kaze to Kagoshima.

The Black “Hayato no Kaze” runs alongside Kinko Bay. You will see majestic Sakurajima Volcano across the shiny water surface.

You may rest for a night in Kagoshima city and continue to Ibusuki station.

Ride a black and white Ibusuki no Tamatebako train from Kagoshima-Chuo to Ibusuki station.

When arrived and the train doors open, steam comes out from vents at the top of the doors, mimicking the smoke from the treasure box in the Dragon’s Palace folk tale.

Amaze the passengers a lot.

When arriving Ibusuki, you must not miss natural Sand bath(Sunamushi).

Then you can also ride a train to the most south station of Kyushu, Nishi Oyama station, for a nice beach view.
